Christmas & New Year Holidays 2025/2026: Ministry of Transportation Implements Contraflow, Port Diversions, and Truck Restrictions
JAKARTA – The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri), and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) have issued a Joint Decree (SKB) to regulate traffic during the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year (Nataru) transport period. The policy focuses on traffic engineering measures and restrictions on heavy vehicles.
Key Traffic Management Measures
Contraflow: Implemented on the Jakarta–Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road (KM 47–KM 70) and the Jagorawi Toll Road (KM 21–KM 8). A detailed contraflow schedule has been prepared for both the outbound and return holiday traffic periods.
One-Way: A one-way traffic system will be applied situationally based on police discretion.
Project Suspension: All construction projects on toll roads must be temporarily halted from December 16, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
Freight Transport Restrictions
Operational restrictions apply to freight vehicles with three or more axles.
Restrictions also apply on major non-toll roads, with exceptions for vehicles transporting fuel (BBM/BBG) and essential goods, provided they carry official cargo documents.
Port Traffic Diversions
To reduce congestion, heavy vehicles (Class II and above) heading to Sumatra will be diverted from Merak Port to supporting ports, namely Ciwandan and BBJ Bojonegara.
The public is advised to book ferry tickets through Ferizy and comply with all traffic regulations to ensure smooth and safe travel.
